This gown gets its name from Marian Wright Edelman, the powerhouse activist who started the Children’s Defense Fund. She spent her whole life fighting for equal opportunities for poor, minority, and disabled kids, while helping pass key child welfare laws across the country. On top of that, she was one of the first Black women in the U.S. to get a law degree, and she even worked as a legal advisor to Martin Luther King Jr. himself.
